The Chase: Part 6.

Another trip through the darkness. How fun. Spinning around in the darkness might sound fun, but it wasn't. It made your stomach want to propel right out of you, sending a crazy shiver through you, rattling your bones. Soon enough, she dropped out of the void, into yet another huge hallway, leading down to nowhere. It almost made Cyrene long for the crazy rollercoaster she had ridden with a friend once. That memory brought a smile to her face. You had to cherish those moments. The man and Alex started walking down the hallway as soon as they landed. Cyrene's feet were much too tired to walk another step, forget a whole hallway. 'Look, Alex, whatever your name is... I'm not coming. Period.', said Cyrene, her neck drenched with sweat. 'Uh, it's not a choice, smartass. You need to come, and that's that. He needs to see you. If...if you're the one, then we're in trouble. Deep, deep trouble. I still don't understand, how did they all...', her voice trailed off. Cyrene was baffled. She was pretty sure this was another dream she just wasn't getting up from. The corridor she walked down seemed to go on forever. Her legs hurt, her head hurt... everything about her hurt. There she was, a homeless orphan, walking down an underground pipe with some people who she didn't know, and she was being ambushed further and further. Wow, she thought. My life does suck. ' Ughhhhhhhhh, can I just go home? Please? I don't need this and I'm better off with-' 'Oh! I'm sorry Cyrene, but I just realised, you don't have a home to go to', said Alex, angrily. Cyrene stood there, stunned. Alex seemed to realise her mistake, 'Oh god, Cyrene... I'm so sorry, I swear I didn't mean to. It- it just sort of came out. I-' Cyrene shook her head slowly. She had had her heart broken twice, and here was the third time. 'Can you stop with the emotional drama?', said the man, who was walking way ahead of them. 'Just keep walking, and shut up', he said. The anger in Cyrene's chest kept bubbling, increasing as every second passed by. Her eyes stung with tears. She had had everything taken away from her: her family, her belongings, her normal life... everything. And everyone here was so insensitive, it made her want to break down and cry her heart out. She was so engrossed in her thoughts, she bumped right into Alex. With a hasty apology, she got up, rubbed her forehead, and locked eyes with the man. 'We're here.', he announced. 'So mind your manners. He not as forgiving of rudeness as I am.'

Cyrene snorted, 'Like you're forgiving.'. He looked at her with a steely glance and Cyrene was forced to smother her giggles.

With a deep breath, the three of them stepped inside.
